David Beckham : Shows true colours at Manchester United!

David Beckham attempted to distance himself from the campaign to oust the Glazer family from Manchester United despite leaving the pitch wearing one of the green and gold scarves that have come to symbolise the fans’ protests against the club’s owners.

Beckham, afforded a stirring reception on his return to Old Trafford, picked up the scarf after it was thrown from the Stretford End on a night when Malcolm Glazer’s sons, Joel and Avram, were inside the stadium to witness the scale of antipathy towards their ownership of the club.

For someone of Beckham’s standing to endorse the green and gold movement would be regarded as a major victory for the protestors but, as the former United player reflected on Milan’s 4-0 defeat, the heaviest inflicted on them since the Champions League’s conception, he said he did not want to be regarded as a figurehead for the campaign. “I’m a Manchester United fan and when I saw the scarf I wanted to put it round my neck,” Beckham explained. “It’s the old colours of United but, to be honest, it’s not my business. I’m a United fan and I support the club. I always will, but it’s got nothing to do with me how it’s run. That’s all to do with other people. I just support the team. I will always support the team.”

That may disappoint those supporters who regarded Beckham’s final act before disappearing down the tunnel as a sign of public sympathy and solidarity. Beckham reflected on an “unbelievable” reaction from an Old Trafford crowd buoyed by a commanding performance from their team and two more goals from Wayne Rooney that left Sir Alex Ferguson wondering whether his leading scorer could emulate Cristiano Ronaldo’s total of 42 last season.

“It’s a challenge,” Ferguson said. “I was just happy for Wayne to reach 30, but he keeps on improving and he was sensational again tonight. It was just a continuation of the last two or three months – his form is just sensational. He’s improved his movement in the box but he has also been practising a lot more this season than ever before, putting in extra work after training and I think he is getting the rewards of that.”

The most prolific season in Rooney’s career now incorporates 21 goals in his last 21 games but Ferguson also enthused about the contribution of some of United’s less celebrated players, most notably praising Park Ji-sung for the “discipline and intelligence that won us the game” as well as pinpointing Gary Neville’s handling of Ronaldinho.

Neville had been brought into the side to spare Rafael da Silva a repeat of his ordeal against Ronaldinho in the first leg and the former England international not only helped quell the threat of Milan’s most inventive player but also set up Rooney for the first goal. “He’s a remarkable man,” Ferguson said. “When you’ve been out of the game [with injury] for a year and half it’s not easy to come back and play every week at the age of 34 and now 35. He succeeded because of his will to succeed and that’s really what Gary Neville is all about.”

As for Beckham, Ferguson was not surprised by the crowd’s affection for the former England captain. “We expected that and he deserved that,” the United manager said. “Most of our former players get that type of reception. Paul Ince unfortunately went to play for Liverpool so they weren’t exactly throwing garlands at him when he came back but normally they always appreciate the players who have had great careers at this club.”

The only downside on the night for United was the news that Owen Hargreaves’ planned comeback for the reserves against Manchester City tonight has been postponed.

Malaysian-born model Sarah Marbeck, 29, told a British tabloid she had a two-year affair with the England soccer captain and father of two after meeting him in Singapore in July 2001 during Manchester United’s Asian tour.

The model alleging to have conducted an affair with soccer ace David Beckham says she spent two years waiting for him to leave wife Victoria Beckham for her. According to stunning Sarah Marbeck, the Real Madrid hunk told her they could be a proper couple after confessing he had fallen in love with her. And Marbeck – who insists her account of their steamy relationship is true – says she decided to go public with her story after wasting years waiting for Beckham to keep his promise. During the affair, Victoria Beckham became pregnant with the couple’s second son, Romeo, and reportedly discovered several of her husband’s text messages.

Ms Marbeck was described by one newspaper as a lawyer’s daughter who lived in Sydney.

In the northern Perth suburb of Karrinyup, a house was staked out by local and international media. A man who confirmed he was one of Ms Marbeck’s brothers spoke briefly to reporters, he refused to say where she was.

“When we made love David told me, ‘I know what we are doing is wrong but I can’t help it.’ The first time he took me to bed he kissed me everywhere. I looked down and there was David Beckham kissing my breasts. David Beckham!”

Beckham’s reputation as a family man and the nicer half of one of Britain’s most glamorous celebrity couple has been hit in recent days by allegations of an affair with his former assistant, Rebecca Loos, the daughter of a Dutch diplomat who helped him move from Manchester United to Real Madrid last year.

Ms Loos, in her first interview, claims that she had sex with Beckham four times after Beckham was abandoned in Madrid by his wife who refused to move there.

“He needed a woman to be with him and help him through a difficult, lonely spell in his life,” she said. Beckham has called Ms Loos’s claims “ludicrous”, while his wife has reportedly called Ms Loos “a lying cow”.

It is understood that the newspaper spent several months investigating the Loos affair. At one point it persuaded Ms Loos to get Beckham to call her while it listened in.

The News of the World is believed to have paid Ms Loos the equivalent of $800,000 for her confession. It is not known how much the paper paid Ms Marbeck, whose claims filled seven pages of yesterday’s paper.

The Sydney-based model claims that Beckham got her a ticket to watch England play Italy in March 2002 in Leeds and when they met in the players’ tunnel afterwards he was “all hot and sweaty”. Ms Marbeck claims that Beckham felt he had been hit with a sledgehammer when he saw her. “He said he loved the way I tied my hair back.”

The Beckhams have not responded to Ms Marbeck’s allegations, though unnamed friends pointed out that both women were paid for their stories.

According to the report, Ms. Laurie has had no regrets about going public. ‘He should be a man and live up to his responsibilities,’ she added. ‘Maybe all this will make him value his family more. He has everything. He should try to keep it.’”

If she’s so concerned about his responsibilities, why did ‘Miss Laurie’ sleep with him in the first place? God, what a tramp, and even worse; a hypocrite. It’s not like his marriage to Victoria was a secret. Women should be learning all over the world; sleeping with celebrities and then turning into a narc, gets you sued.

Supposedly, while David was still with Manchester United, in 1998, he started sleeping around with Emma Ryan, model for Page Three, while Victoria was five months pregnant, and they were still engaged. From BBC News in 1998:
